Was it worth sullying your reputation among every criminal defense lawyer in the state just so Kathy Belich could get a story? Was it worth having your claims of “professionalism” published on Mr. Boedeker’s blog on the same day you sold out an entire organization.

And for those that are interested, I did verify that Mr. Sheaffer lied to obtain the seminar materials. Apparently FACDL was concerned that the audio would be leaked, so they set up a system to stream the audio.
Mr. Sheaffer called FACDL headquarters and claimed he was having a hard time hearing the audio and would like to have a copy sent to him. He went so far as to say he needed it so that he could maintain his death penalty qualifications.
FACDL believed Mr. Sheaffer and sent him the audio as he requested – he immediately turned it over to Ms. Belich. The rest is history – just like his reputation among his colleagues.

As a side-note, I was informed that when this situation was brought to the attention of the News Director for WFTV-ABC, he was the consummate professional and removed all references at the request of FACDL. I would like to not only commend him for that, I would like to say thank you.

I also notice that Miss Lyon’s has deleted most of her online speech links but 2. I watched 9 on monday and by yesterday it only shows 2. All 9 were posted by her all but one showed her doing speeches. Also on you tube Monday there were 80 hits for this Andra Lyon’s. Yesterday only 6. Not only is she deleting them herself but so are other lawyers?

Isn’t defamation spoken and libel written? It seems people can sue for anything these days, it doesn’t mean they’ll win.
Defamation is any form of false and harmful disparagement of someone’s reputation; libel is written defamation. Slander is spoken defamation.

Several big differences: these were named individuals that the anonymous posters were committing libel against. They were being accused of horrendous crimes by the anonymous posters. This JMLM character has not given his real name, nor has he given any identifying information, nor have I posted anything that could be remotely considered to have caused ‘harmful disparagement’ of his ‘reputation’. I don’t think he is what he says he is. I think he is lying.
Is it now against the law to tell someone you don’t believe a word they say? Is it now against the law to tell someone they sound dumb? Is it now against the law to point out someone sounds like a whiner and a creep? No.
