Wise words from a criminal defense attorney

Wise words from a criminal defense attorney. A colleague of mine maintains a blog that seems to always express in simple terms what I would only be able to explain in complex terms.

So please, take a moment and read his most recent post. I think it will be especially enlightening to those who think Casey Anthony doesn’t deserve to have the State pay her due process costs.

That was an interesting read and I agree that those rights have to apply to everyone.

I would rather read what you write though. Have a nice day!

I think we have become a country filled with “it is all about me” people.
Sad that common sense has left the country. I wonder if anyone even remembers what is in the constitution or how hard we fought for all those rights.

  3. Kara Zor-el says:

Everyone accused of a crime has the right to be represented.
And if the JAC is going to subsidize her defense, okay.
My issue isn’t with someone having the right to adequate representation. My concern is that our legal system boils down to who got the most out of law school. Who has better witnesses, who knows how to keep discovery from being admitted at trial, who commands a better performance in the courtroom.
It’s not about getting to what really happened.

It isn’t about real guilt or innocence, because that would be the truth.
It’s about one side being better able to convince a jury that their “version” is the better “version”.

    Mr. Hornsby-
I miss your real commentary. I think your bite was worse than your bark.
Are you ever coming back with your teeth bared (no short leashes either)?
